QUICK LINKS

Boc-Ile-OSu is a potent inhibitor of the bacterial biosynthetic pathway. It blocks the synthesis of the amino acid L-isoleucine by binding to the enzyme IleS synthetase, which is responsible for the conversion of L-threonine to L-isoleucine in bacteria. Through its benzodiazepine receptor ligand properties, Boc-Ile-OSu has shown to have inhibitory effects on bacterial growth in vitro. By binding to the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria, it causes leakeage of the cytoplasmic membrane, resulting in cell death. Furthermore, this compound also inhibits the binding of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) to human cells.
