BML-286 is is a derivative of benzoic acid in many different areas, including biochemistry and physiology. It is a cell-permeable compound whose binding of the PDZ domain of dishevelled (Kd = 10.6 muM) disrupts Wnt signaling. Further, BML-286 blocks Wnt3a-induced transcription activity and is able to suppress the Wnt pathway-dependent growth of prostate cancer PC-3 cells in vitro (IC50 = 12.5 muM). BML-286 has an interaction with and can modulate the activity of certain receptors, such as the serotonin and dopamine receptors, as well as certain ion channels, such as the potassium and calcium channels.
