BLVRB Antibody (1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects BLVRB in human samples through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BLVRB, also known as biliverdin reductase B, plays a crucial role in fetal heme metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of biliverdin to bilirubin, a process vital for detoxifying heme breakdown products. BLVRB is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and highly expressed in fetal liver and adult erythrocytes, with lower levels found in the heart, lung, cerebrum, and adrenal gland. BLVRB efficiently reduces biliverdin, particularly isoforms IXβ, IXγ, and IXδ, which is essential for maintaining physiological levels of bilirubin, important for preventing oxidative stress and protecting cells from damage. BLVRB contains a single binding site for substrates and interacts with them primarily through hydrophobic interactions, which is significant for enzymatic function. BLVRB presence is also indicative of nitric oxide synthase activity, making anti-BLVRB antibody (1) valuable for various biological studies.
