QUICK LINKS

Bitolterol Mesylate, the mesylate salt derived from bitolterol, belongs to the class of diester sympathomimetic amines. Bitolterol undergoes hydrolysis by esterases, giving rise to its active metabolite colterol (N-t-butylarterenol). Selectively binding to and activating beta-2 adrenergic receptors. Colterol initiates the stimulation of adenyl cyclase, an enzyme responsible for converting adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to cyclic-3′,5′-adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). This leads to the relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle, resulting in bronchodilation.
