BIS-Tris is an inert, zwitterionic buffer that exhibits only a very small shift in dissociation constant with respect to temperature. BIS-Tris is suitable for fractionation of hemoglobin. For BIS-Tris, the useful pH range for the buffer is 5.8-7.2. BIS-Tris has a pKa of 6.5 at 25° C.
