SEE ALSO...

β-defensin 4 Antibody (L13-10-D1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects human beta-defensin 4 by western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Anti-beta-defensin 4 antibody (L13-10-D1) is available as a non-conjugated format. Beta-defensin 4 plays a crucial role in innate immune response, exhibiting broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity vital for protecting mucosal surfaces from pathogens. Beta-defensin 4 is primarily produced in mucosal epithelia and neutrophils, and expression is developmentally regulated, with highest levels found in testis. Human β-defensin 4 (hBD-4) is expressed in a restricted pattern, suggesting specialized function in specific tissues. Selective expression of hBD-4, along with antimicrobial properties, indicates particular suitability for acting at epithelial locations, providing first-line defense against microbial invasion. Regulation of beta-defensin 4 in rat and mouse highlights evolutionary significance in host defense mechanisms. Beta-defensin 4 monoclonal antibody (L13-10-D1) serves as an essential tool for studying immune responses and potential implications in various diseases.

Can sc-59496: β-defensin 4 (L13-10-D1) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-59496: β-defensin 4 (L13-10-D1) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
