    SEE ALSO...

β-defensin 2 Antibody (2-RY8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects human beta-defensin 2 by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-beta-defensin 2 antibody (2-RY8) is available in non-conjugated format. Beta-defensin 2 is a crucial component of the innate immune system, functioning primarily as an antimicrobial peptide that provides a first line of defense against pathogens. Beta-defensin 2 is produced in mucosal epithelia and neutrophils, and expression is tightly regulated by inflammatory signals, making beta-defensin 2 an important player in the body′s response to infection. Beta-defensin 2′s ability to disrupt microbial membranes contributes to broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, which is vital for maintaining mucosal integrity and preventing infections. Additionally, human beta-defensin 2 is the first member of the beta-defensin family that can be locally induced by inflammation, highlighting beta-defensin 2′s role in the immune response. Understanding beta-defensin 2 function is essential for exploring therapeutic strategies aimed at enhancing host defense mechanisms, particularly in conditions where the immune response is compromised.
