β-Chloro-L-alanine, also known as 3-Chloro-L-alanine (3-Cl-L-Ala), is a chiral amino acid with an R configuration at the chiral center. It is an L-alanine derivative that interacts with proteins involved in protein folding and stability, resulting in alterations to protein structure and activity. β-Chloro-L-alanine is also known as 3-chloroalanine and is an enantiomer of 3-chloro-D-alanine. Additionally, it can exist as a tautomer of a β-Chloro-L-alanine zwitterion.
