QUICK LINKS

Benzimidazole is a heterocyclic organic compound and an important building block in the synthesis of many biologically active compounds. It has been found to inhibit the activity of certain enzymes involved in drug metabolism, and to act as an antagonist of certain receptors, such as the 5-HT2A receptor, which is involved in the regulation of mood and behavior. It also has anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and anti-oxidant activities. It has been used to study the effects of various drugs on cell cultures, to assess the efficacy of drugs in treating various diseases, and to study the effects of environmental chemicals on cell cultures.
