QUICK LINKS

A boronic acid-based arginine analog that acts as a slow-binding, competitive transition state inhibitor of arginases I and II (K = 310 nM for human recombinant type II arginase, pH 7.5). BEC does not inhibit nitric oxide synthase (NOS), it causes significant enhancement of NO-dependent smooth muscle relaxation in human penile corpus cavernosum tissue.
