Bcr Antibody (7C6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody, raised against amino acids 686-698 within an internal region of the human Bcr protein. The Bcr protein, also known as Breakpoint Cluster Region protein, is integral to cellular signaling pathways, functioning as a GTPase-activating protein (GAP) for the Rac1 p21 GTPase. This activity is crucial for regulating processes such as cytoskeletal organization, cell migration, and proliferation. The Bcr gene is located on chromosome 22 and is notably involved in the formation of the Philadelphia chromosome through a translocation with the c-Abl proto-oncogene on chromosome 9, a genetic alteration present in approximately 90-95% of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) cases. This translocation leads to the production of a Bcr/c-Abl fusion protein with constitutive kinase activity, driving the uncontrolled growth of leukemic cells. Understanding the function and regulation of Bcr is essential for elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying CML and developing targeted therapies. Bcr mouse monoclonal antibody (7C6) is reactive with mouse, rat, and human Bcr proteins and is suitable for applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin embedded sections (IHCP). By enabling the detection and study of Bcr protein expression and localization, Bcr (7C6) antibody serves as a valuable tool for researchers investigating the role of Bcr in cancer and other diseases.
