SEE ALSO...

BAMBI Antibody (3B7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BAMBI protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-BAMBI antibody (3B7) is available as the non-conjugated format. BAMBI, or BMP and activin membrane-bound inhibitor homolog, NMA, is a membrane-spanning glycoprotein that plays a crucial role as a negative regulator of TGF-beta signaling during development, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and regulating various developmental processes. Notably, BAMBI is structurally related to the type I TGF-beta receptor family; however, BAMBI functions as a pseudoreceptor due to the absence of an intracellular serine/threonine kinase domain, which limits signal transduction ability. The regulation of BAMBI transcription is influenced by key signaling molecules such as beta-catenin, BMP, Smad3, and Smad4, highlighting integration into complex signaling networks. BAMBI expression is notably elevated in colorectal and hepatocellular carcinomas compared to non-cancerous tissues, suggesting a potential role in tumor biology. During odontogenesis, BAMBI is expressed at high levels, and BAMBI is coexpressed with Bmp-4 during early Xenopus embryogenesis, indicating importance in developmental biology. BAMBI can be detected in poorly metastatic human melanoma cell lines, further emphasizing relevance in cancer research.
