QUICK LINKS

Azlocillin sodium salt is a penicillin derivative and a broad-spectrum antibiotic. For example, it is active against a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. It works by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) in bacterial cells. This binding inhibits the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, leading to cell death. Azlocillin sodium salt can be used against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and has been used to develop novel antibiotic quantitation techniques. Its antimicrobial activity, Azlocillin sodium salt has anti-inflammatory, anti-angiogenic, and immunomodulatory effects.
