AX 048, ethyl 4-[(2-oxohexadecanoyl)amino]butanoate, is a PLA2 (Phospholipase A2) and PGE2 (Prostaglandin E2) inhibitor. PLAs are known to play a role in various cellular processes such as host defense, phospholipid digestion and metabolism, and signal transduction. This compound also contains a specific affinity for group IVA cPLA2 which moderates antihyperalgesia effects.
