    SEE ALSO...

Aspartoacylase Antibody (D-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects Aspartoacylase of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Aspartoacylase antibody (D-11) is available as the non-conjugated form. Aspartoacylase, also known as ASPA, ACY2, or ASP, is a 313 amino acid protein predominantly expressed in liver, lung, kidney, skeletal muscle, and cerebral white matter. Aspartoacylase exists as a homodimer and plays a critical role in the central nervous system by catalyzing the deacetylation of N-acetylaspartic acid (NAA) into acetate and L-aspartate, a process essential for maintaining white matter integrity. Proper functioning of Aspartoacylase is vital, as defects in the gene encoding this enzyme lead to Canavan disease, a rare neurodegenerative disorder characterized by severe neurological deficits, including hypotonia, atonia of neck muscles, and cognitive impairments. NAA accumulation due to impaired Aspartoacylase activity results in white matter vacuolization and demyelination, ultimately causing spongy degeneration of brain tissue. Aspartoacylase monoclonal antibody (D-11) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying molecular mechanisms underlying Canavan disease and related disorders, providing insights into potential therapeutic targets and strategies.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-377308 P appropriate for?

    Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
