SEE ALSO...

Asf1 Antibody (D-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Asf1 protein of Saccharomyces cerevisiae origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Asf1 antibody (D-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Asf1, also known as anti-silencing function 1, plays a crucial role in DNA repair and chromatin dynamics, which are essential for maintaining genomic stability. Specifically, Asf1 is involved in the assembly and disassembly of nucleosomes, a process vital for regulating gene expression and DNA accessibility. When Asf1 is overexpressed, cellular functions may be disrupted due to de-repression of silent loci. Additionally, Asf1 interacts with various proteins, including Bdf1p, which is important for recruiting transcriptional machinery to chromatin. Asf1′s interaction with Hir proteins promotes heterochromatic gene silencing, a process essential for maintaining genome integrity. Deletion of Asf1 inhibits normal nucleosome dynamics in yeast, triggering pathways that lead to cell death, resembling apoptosis in multicellular organisms, which underscores Asf1′s importance in chromatin assembly, cellular health, and DNA damage response.
