AQP4 Antibody (4/18) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects AQP4 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-AQP4 antibody (4/18) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AQP4, also known as aquaporin 4, plays a crucial role in water transport across cell membranes, particularly in the central nervous system and skeletal muscle. AQP4 is predominantly localized to the sarcolemma of fast-twitch muscle fibers, where AQP4 facilitates rapid water movement, essential for muscle function and hydration. This localization helps maintain osmotic balance and supports muscle contraction during intense physical activity. Aquaporins, including AQP4, are integral membrane proteins that form channels allowing selective permeability to water, and aquaporin dysfunction can lead to various pathophysiological conditions, including edema and neurological disorders. The presence of multiple aquaporin isoforms in tissues underscores their importance in diverse physiological processes, such as renal water absorption and the regulation of cerebrospinal fluid dynamics.
