APRIN Antibody (2030D32a) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects APRIN protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Anti-APRIN antibody (2030D32a) is available as the non-conjugated form. APRIN protein, also known as androgen-induced proliferation inhibitor, Androgen Shutoff 3 (AS3), or PDS5 regulator of cohesion maintenance homolog B (PDS5B), plays a crucial role in regulating androgen-dependent growth arrest in prostate cells, specifically mediating cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase of prostate epithelial cells. This function helps prevent uncontrolled cell proliferation, which is a hallmark of cancer. Structurally, APRIN is a highly conserved protein characterized by a nuclear localization sequence near its C-terminal, a DNA-binding domain, a coiled coil domain, a leucine zipper, and a protein kinase domain, all contributing to regulatory functions within the cell. APRIN is predominantly expressed in smooth muscle stromal cells and both basal and luminal epithelial cells, where APRIN localizes to the nucleus, underscoring a role in transcriptional regulation. APRIN is related to fungal proteins such as Aspergillus bimD and Sodaria Spo76p, and APRIN loss has been strongly correlated with the development of prostate cancer, highlighting potential as a biomarker and therapeutic target in oncology.
