ApoER2 Antibody (1A1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ApoER2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ApoER2 antibody (1A1) is available as a non-conjugated isotype antibody. ApoER2, also known as apolipoprotein E receptor 2 or LRP8, is a crucial member of the low-density lipoprotein receptor gene family, which includes other important receptors such as LDL receptor, LRP, megalin, and VLDLR. This family is characterized by a unique structure that includes a cluster of cysteine-rich class A repeats, epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like repeats, YWTD repeats, and an O-linked sugar domain, which are essential for their function in cellular signaling and lipid metabolism. ApoER2 is predominantly expressed in the brain and placenta, where ApoER2 plays a vital role in mediating the interaction between extracellular Reelin and the cytosolic protein mDab1 (mammalian disabled protein). This interaction is critical for activating a tyrosine kinase signaling pathway that regulates neuronal migration along radial glial fibers during brain development, highlighting ApoER2′s importance in neurodevelopmental processes. Several splice variants of ApoER2 further underscore ApoER2′s functional diversity and potential implications in various physiological and pathological conditions.
