AP-4 Antibody (H-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects AP-4 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AP-4, a member of the AP transcription factor family, plays a crucial role in gene regulation by specifically binding to the DNA consensus sequence 5′-CAGCTG-3′, which is vital for the transcription of various genes, including those involved in immune response and cellular growth. AP-4′s ability to interact with promoters for immunoglobulin-κ gene families and simian virus 40 highlights AP-4′s importance in both normal cellular functions and disease states, such as cancer. Structurally, AP-4 is characterized by a helix-loop-helix configuration, which is essential for DNA-binding activity and interaction with other transcription factors. Additionally, AP-4 contains two distinctive leucine repeat elements that contribute to stability and functional versatility, making AP-4 a significant player in the transcriptional regulation of genes associated with critical biological processes. The gene encoding AP-4 is located on human chromosome 12q24, and AP-4 expression is tightly regulated, underscoring AP-4′s importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to external stimuli.
