    SEE ALSO...

AP-3β Antibody (3B4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects AP-3β in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-AP-3β antibody (3B4) is available in a non-conjugated form, allowing for versatile use in various experimental setups. AP-3β, also known as β3A-Adaptin, plays a crucial role in sorting proteins within exocytic and endocytic pathways, forming part of the adaptor-like complex AP-3, which consists of four distinct subunits. AP-3β is essential for proper trafficking of membrane proteins, particularly in neurons, where AP-3β is involved in synaptic vesicle transport. AP-3β shares significant structural similarity with β-NAP, a neuron-specific protein, exhibiting 61% overall identity. The interaction between AP-3β and β-NAP highlights functional redundancy and specialization of adaptor proteins in cellular transport mechanisms. AP-3β undergoes post-translational modifications, such as phosphorylation by casein kinase I at its hinge domain, which is critical for function; inhibiting this kinase can disrupt AP-3 recruitment to synaptic vesicles, thereby affecting neurotransmitter release and synaptic plasticity.
