AP-2σ1 Antibody (5-RY21) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects AP-2 sigma 1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-AP-2 sigma 1 antibody (5-RY21) is available as the non-conjugated format. The adapter-related protein complex 2 (AP-2) plays a crucial role in intracellular trafficking by linking clathrin to receptors in coated vesicles, which is essential for the selective transport of membrane proteins. AP-2 complex interacts with the cytoplasmic tails of membrane proteins, facilitating their concentration and selection for endocytosis, a process vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and signaling. AP-2 complex exists as a heterotetramer composed of two large chains, a medium chain, and a small chain, with adapter-related protein complex 2 subunit sigma-1 (AP-2σ1) being the 142 amino acid small chain.
