Anisodamine is an alkaloid structurally related to atropine. Like atropine and scopolamine, anisodamine is a non-specific cholinergic antagonist. It has been demonstrated that anisodamine blocks prejunctional muscarinic receptors. Anisodamine is an alpha1-AR (alpha1-adrenergic receptor) inhibitor. Anisodamine can be used in biochemical research to study the modulation of acetylcholine receptors, offering insights into the mechanisms of neurotransmission, receptor dynamics, and the potential for targeting these pathways.
