Amylmetacresol is an organic, aromatic alcohol. It is a structural analog of cresol. It is an amyl group attached to a metacresol backbone. Its antimicrobial properties make it a potent agent against bacteria and other microorganisms, achieved by disrupting their cell membranes. The compound operates by disrupting the cell membranes of bacteria and fungi, impairing their ability to function and reproduce.
