Ammonium trifluoromethanesulfonate is a thermally very stable compound. It is a proton-donating agent that influences insulin sensitivity. Ammonium trifluoromethanesulfonate can also be used as a cathode additive in PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cells which helps to increase local oxygen concentration near the Pt catalyst, thereby enhancing the single-cell performance.
