QUICK LINKS

Aminoethoxyvinyl glycine hydrochloride (AVG) is a potent inhibitor of ethylene synthesis in plants thought to act at the level of 1-aminocyclopropanecarboxylic (ACC) synthase. It is thought that Aminoethoxyvinyl glycine hydrochloride is a fermentation metabolite that inhibits endogenous production of ethylene in plant tissues. Ethylene may act to affect plant processes such as fruit maturation, ripening and abcisssion. Inhibitors of ethylene synthesis such as Aminoethoxyvinyl glycine hydrochloride, silver thiosulfate and 1-methylcyclopropene could be of interest to researchers concerned with plant physiology.
