QUICK LINKS

Experimentally shown to inhibit arginine, in vitro, with no inhibitory effect on lysine. No effect has been shown against S-adenosyl methionine (AdoMet), contrary to most methyltransferase inhibitors that show active competition for the AdoMet binding site. Studies have demonstrated AMI-1 to prevent cellular arginine methylation, modulate nuclear receptor-regulated transcription from estrogen and androgen response elements, and is a HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitor.
