Alternariol monomethyl ether is a mycotoxin produced by various Alternaria species of fungi. It exerts toxic effects through the formation of DNA adducts and the generation of reactive oxygen species. Alternariol monomethyl ether has estrogenic activity, which may contribute to its toxic effects.
