QUICK LINKS

α-Melanocyte stimulating hormone is an endogenous melanocortin receptor (MC-R) agonist (Ki values are 0.12, 31, 660 and 5700 nM for MC1-R, MC3-R, MC4-R and MC5-R receptors respectively). This peptide also shows anti-inflammatory properties and can antagonize many proinflammatory mediators, such as TNF-alpha, IL-^, and NO while also inducing cytokine IL-10 (anti-inflammatory). alpha-Melanocyte stimulating hormone is an inhibitor of NOS2.
