QUICK LINKS

α,β-Thujone functions as a GABA receptor antagonist, inhibiting the activity of GABA receptors in the central nervous system. α,β-Thujone is known to disrupt the normal inhibitory signaling of GABA, leading to an excitatory effect on neurons. By interfering with the GABAergic neurotransmission, α,β-Thujone can modulate neuronal activity and affect synaptic transmission. In experimental applications, α,β-Thujone is utilized to investigate the role of GABA receptors in neuronal signaling and to study the effects of GABAergic modulation on synaptic transmission. Its ability to interact with GABA receptors may be useful in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying neuronal communication and synaptic plasticity.
