All-trans 4-Keto Retinoic Acid is a metabolite of all-trans-Retinoic Acid, a ligand for both the retinoic acid receptor (RAR) as well as the retinoid X receptor (RXR). All-trans 4-Keto Retinoic Acid has shown to induce apoptosis in Hl-60 cells and myeloma cell lines. This compound achieves this effect by elevating cytosolic calcium levels and inhibiting protein synthesis.
