SEE ALSO...

Alix Antibody (2H12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Alix in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Alix, also known as programmed cell death 6-interacting protein, plays a crucial role in cellular processes by facilitating the sorting and concentration of cargo proteins within multivesicular bodies, which are essential for proper trafficking of proteins and lipids in cells. This function influences various cellular activities, including apoptosis and endocytosis, thereby impacting cell survival and communication. Alix interacts with several key proteins, including apoptosis-associated proteins like ALG-2 and PDCD6, as well as endosomal sorting complexes required for transport (ESCRT) proteins such as Tsg101 and CHMP4. Anti-Alix antibody (2H12) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying cellular dynamics and disease mechanisms, including viral pathogenesis through Alix′s association with HIV-1.

Are there any issues with using sc-53539: Alix (2H12) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-53539 conjugates.

What is the lower mw band with the nuclear extract.   Is that an Alix isoform or contaminate ?

Asked by: Roger Madison
Thank you for your question. We have not further characterized the lower molecular weight band observed in the nuclear extracts tested (HeLa, Jurkat, K-562, THP-1 and U-937) by Western blot with this Alix Antibody (2H12): sc-53539. However, this band is also observed with a different Alix antibody with a different epitope, sc-53540: Alix (1A12).
