Alendronate Sodium Salt Trihydrate is a nitrogen-containing bisphosphate that acts as a robust inhibitor of bone reabsorption and induces apoptosis in osteoclasts, among other cell types, by modification of GTP-binding proteins post-transcriptionally. The compound may act to act as a selective inhibitor of FDPS (farnesyl diphosphate synthase). Prostate cancer studies also revealed that Alendronate inhibits the migration and invasion of PC-3 cells (sc-2220) by interfering with the mevalonate pathway. Additionally, Alendronate Sodium Salt Trihydrate is an inhibitor of CD45RC and MMP.
