Aldrin is a neurotoxic insecticide that belongs to the group of chemicals called organochlorines. As a chlorinated cyclodiene, it acts as a pyrethroid insecticide that is widely used to maintain control of pests and insects from crops. Aldrin inhibits the activity of epoxidases and hydroxylases, which are enzymes that use oxygen to oxidize organic substances.
