A cell-permeable, metabolically-stable precursor of Rp-cAMPS that acts as a competitive inhibitor of protein kinase A type I and II. During metabolic activation by esterases, the inhibitor and butyrate are released. Reported to inhibit glucose-induced proliferation of the pancreatic b-cell line, INS-1. More lipophilic and cell-permeable than Rp-cAMPS.
