ADAMTS-2 Antibody (18Q) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects ADAMTS-2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ADAMTS-2 is a member of the ADAMTS family, which consists of zinc-dependent proteases that play crucial roles in various physiological and pathological processes, including tissue remodeling and the progression of diseases like arthritis and cancer. ADAMTS-2 is primarily secreted and associated with the extracellular matrix, exhibiting the highest expression levels in tissues such as skin, bone, tendon, and aorta. ADAMTS-2 is essential for collagen biosynthesis, as ADAMTS-2 cleaves the propeptides of Collagen Type I and II, facilitating proper fibril assembly, while ADAMTS-2 does not act on Collagen Type III. Defects in ADAMTS-2 are linked to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome type VIIC, a genetic connective tissue disorder characterized by severe skin fragility and joint hypermobility, highlighting ADAMTS-2′s critical role in maintaining tissue integrity and function.
