    SEE ALSO...

ADAM19 Antibody (14J12) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects ADAM19 of mouse origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Anti-ADAM19 antibody (14J12) is available as a non-conjugated format. ADAM19, also known as meltrin b, is a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease) family, which comprises over 30 membrane-anchored, glycosylated, zinc-dependent proteases that are crucial for various biological processes, including cell-cell interactions and cell-matrix adhesion. ADAM19 is predominantly expressed in the peripheral nervous system during embryonic development, but expression is also found in other tissues such as the placenta, brain, heart, lung, leukocytes, and SW480 cells. ADAM19 plays a significant role in the modulation of neurogenic functions, particularly in the context of the Notch and Delta signaling pathways, which are essential for cell differentiation and development. The structure of ADAM19 includes several functional domains: a signal domain, a pro-domain, a metalloprotease domain, a disintegrin domain that serves as an integrin ligand, a cysteine-rich region, an epidermal growth factor-like domain, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic tail. The integrity of these domains is vital for proteolytic activity, particularly the truncation of the cysteine-rich domain, which is necessary for effective cleavage of specific substrates such as α2-macroglobulin. ADAM19 serves as a marker for dendritic cells, highlighting its importance in immune responses.
