Datasheets
  • Acrosin Antibody (ACR-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 Acrosin antibody, cited in 6 publications, provided at 100 µg/ml
  • raised against acid extracts of porcine spermatozoa
  • recommended for detection of various forms of Acrosin (55, 53, 45 and 35 kDa) in the acrosome of undamaged spermatozoa of porcine origin by WB and IF; non cross-reactive with human, bovine or canine Acrosin
  • At present, we have not yet completed the identification of the preferred secondary detection reagent(s) for Acrosin Antibody (ACR-2). This work is in progress.

Acrosin Antibody (ACR-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Acrosin protein of porcine origin by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-Acrosin antibody (ACR-2) is available as a non-conjugated format. Acrosin, a crucial member of the peptidase S1 family, is predominantly found in the acrosome of mature mammalian spermatozoa, where Acrosin plays a vital role in fertilization. This serine proteinase exhibits trypsin-like cleavage specificity, and proacrosin is synthesized exclusively during the postmeiotic stages of spermatogenesis. The activation of proacrosin to Acrosin is essential for the lysis of the zona pellucida, the protective glycoprotein layer surrounding the ovum, thereby facilitating sperm penetration and successful fertilization. Understanding Acrosin function is critical, as Acrosin not only highlights the intricate processes involved in reproduction but also underscores potential implications in fertility treatments and reproductive health research.

ACR is described against porcine acrosin. Does it react with human acrosin?

Asked by: DavidJH
Thank for your question. sc-51504 Acrosin (ACR-2) has not been validated for human. There is a 69% homology in human. We only warranty a specie if the homology is 95% or higher .
