ACOT1/2 Antibody (F-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ACOT1/2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ACOT1/2 (F-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Acyl-CoA thioesterases (ACOTs) play a crucial role in lipid metabolism by catalyzing the hydrolysis of acyl-CoA to produce coenzyme A and free fatty acids, thereby regulating intracellular levels of fatty acids and acyl-CoAs. ACOT1 (acyl-CoA thioesterase 1) exists predominantly as a monomer in the cytoplasm, while ACOT2 (acyl-CoA thioesterase 2) primarily localizes to mitochondria. Structural differences between these proteins influence enzymatic activity and cellular functions. ACOT2 exists in multiple alternatively spliced isoforms, adding complexity to functional roles in cellular metabolism. Both ACOT1 and ACOT2 genes reside on human chromosome 14, with activities vital for maintaining lipid homeostasis, essential for energy production and signaling pathways.
