Acetic acid-N-hydroxsuccinimide ester is a non-ionic, acidic ester of succinic anhydride, and is a chemical reagent in a variety of scientific applications. For example, it is in protein and peptide synthesis, bioconjugation, and in the production of fluorescent dyes and fluorescently labeled antibodies. It is also used for the synthesis of polymers, such as polyamides, polyesters, and polyurethanes. Acetic acid-N-hydroxsuccinimide ester participates in esterification reactions. It has been used to modify the structure of DNA and RNA molecules and to study gene expression.
