ABCB5 Antibody (11A2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG antibody that detects ABCB5 in human samples through western blotting (WB). ABCB5, also known as P-glycoprotein ABCB5, is a critical member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter family, consisting of 812 amino acids and characterized as a multi-pass membrane protein. ABCB5 plays a vital role in the transport of various molecules across cellular membranes by utilizing the energy derived from ATP hydrolysis. ABCB5 is particularly significant in malignant melanomas, contributing to resistance against the chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin, thereby influencing treatment outcomes. Two isoforms, alpha and beta, resulting from alternative splicing, add complexity to ABCB5 function and regulation. ABCB5 not only mediates chemoresistance but also inhibits tumor growth, positioning ABCB5 as a potential target for therapeutic intervention in melanoma. Anti-ABCB5 antibody (11A2) serves as an essential tool for researchers exploring ABCB5′s role in cancer biology and drug resistance mechanisms.
