Abacavir 5′-Phosphate is a metabolite of Abacavir which is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI). Abcavir is an HIV inhibitor, working by blocking HIV reverse transcriptase, an HIV enzyme. The antiviral effect of abacavir is due to its intracellular anabolite, carbovir-triphosphate (CBV-TP).
