9-Aminoacridine free base, is a mutagenic fluorescent dye and an intracellular pH indicator. In vitro studies involving 9-Aminoacridine free base have utilized this compound to investigate cell viability, cell proliferation, and cell differentiation. Although the exact mechanism of action of 9-Aminoacridine is not fully elucidated, it is hypothesized to function as a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase.
