QUICK LINKS

8-Hydroxy Mirtazapine (8-OH-Mirt) is the main metabolite of Mirtazapine. It acts on several different neurotransmitter systems in the brain, including serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. It can modulate the activity of various enzymes and receptors, including the NMDA receptor, the AMPA receptor, and the GABA receptor. It has also been found to increase the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which is important for neuronal growth and survival. Furthermore, it has been found to have an effect on the immune system and inflammation. Studies have reported antitumor activity of 8-Hydroxy Mirtazapine in certain types of cancer cells.
