8-Chloro-2-(2-methylphenyl)quinoline-4-carboxylic acid, or 8-Cl-2-MPQC, has been involved in the synthesis of several quinoline derivatives, including its own ethyl ester and methyl ester. Additionally, it has been part of the creation process of many organic compounds, including 1,4-dihydropyridines and their derivatives, along with other quinoline derivatives. While the precise mechanism of action of 8-Chloro-2-(2-methylphenyl)quinoline-4-carboxylic acid isn′t fully known, it′s speculated to act as an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme that participates in the production of prostaglandins. Moreover, 8-Chloro-2-(2-methylphenyl)quinoline-4-carboxylic acid has been discovered to inhibit the function of other enzymes, including caspase-3 and caspase-7, which partake in apoptosis.
