Metabolically resistant activator of cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) (cAMP agonist). No metabolic side effects as observed with dibutyryl-cAMP (N6,O2′-Dibutyryladenosine 3′,5′-cyclic monophosphate) or 8-Br-cAMP (8-Bromoadenosine-3′,5′-cyclic monophosphate). Significantly more lipophilic and membrane permeant as compared to Sp-cAMPS (Adenosine 3′,5′-cyclic monophosphothioate, Sp isomer).
