8-Bromo-cAMP, also known as 8-bromo-adenosine-3′,5′-cyclic monophosphate, is a cell-permeable cyclic AMP (cAMP) analog which activates PKA (cAMP-dependent protein kinase). 8-Bromo-cAMP activates PKA with 100-fold reduced potency. 8-Bromo-cAMP is more stable to hydrolysis by cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases than cAMP. 8-Bromo-cAMP has also been observed to directly activate Epac, a Rap1 guanine-nucleotide exchange factor.
