7,8-Dimethoxyflavone (7,8-DMF) is a flavonoid found in a variety of plant species. It has been studied for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. It acts as an agonist of the PPAR-γ receptor, which is involved in the regulation of lipid and glucose metabolism. 7,8-Dimethoxyflavone has also been shown to inhibit the activity of histone deacetylase, which is involved in the regulation of gene expression, as well as tyrosine kinase, which regulates cell growth and proliferation. In addition, it has been found to lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while raising HDL cholesterol levels, and it also reduces blood glucose levels while enhancing insulin sensitivity. Furthermore, 7,8-Dimethoxyflavone decreases inflammation and oxidative stress and offers protection against neuronal cell death.
