5-TAMRA (5-Carboxytetramethylrhodamine) is a fluorescent dye leveraged in a wide array of scientific research applications. As a variant of tetramethylrhodamine, one of the most extensively used fluorescent dyes globally, it is distinguished by its high sensitivity and photostability. 5-TAMRA finds use in many cellular and biochemical assays, such as flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and fluorescence spectroscopy. It is also employed in labeling proteins, lipids, and other biomolecules, and in imaging live cells. Furthermore, 5-TAMRA plays a role in numerous biochemical and physiological assays, including enzyme assays, DNA sequencing, and cell viability assays. 5-TAMRA is a fluorescent dye that absorbs light at 530 nm and emits light at 575 nm. Upon light excitation, the dye molecules become excited and emit light of a longer wavelength, which can be detected by fluorescence microscopy or spectrometry. This emission is utilized to detect and quantify the dye′s presence in a sample.
