5-Nitro-2-furaldehyde diacetate is a synthetic compound used in the synthesis of quinoline derivatives. Its potential as an inhibitor of lung cancer cells has been demonstrated, although the precise mechanism of action remains unidentified. To investigate its effects, 5-Nitro-2-furaldehyde diacetate was synthesized and tested using a reaction solution containing sodium carbonate and hydrochloric acid. Electron microscopic analysis revealed that this compound interacts with the hydroxyl group on the lung cell membrane′s surface. This leads to a compromise in the cell wall′s integrity, ultimately resulting in cell death.
